Hone Studio provided landscape services to the Tairua River Trail committee to help visualise the proposed suspsension bridge, working alongside Chris of The Arch to support the aspirations of this community-led vision. The project involved visiting Pauanui and Tairua to meet with the community leads who are building the trail piece by piece, strengthening the walking and cycling opportunities to either side of the river.
The bridge is proposed as a 120m long suspension bridge, tying into the river banks and connecting to the wider trail. network. Sitting 5m above the mean river height level, the approach ramps carefully considered engineering constraints, safety, path width and grade, and encouraged opportunities for rest and access to views.
