Greenslade Reserve, Te Kaitaka—delivered as part of Te Ara Awataha—is a landmark urban regeneration project that catalysed the revitalisation of Northcote’s town centre. Commissioned by Kāinga Ora, Eke Panuku, and Auckland Council (Healthy Waters), the project exemplifies the integration of landscape, infrastructure, and community amenity.

At its core, Greenslade Reserve is a water-led intervention. It combines stormwater management, ecological restoration, and recreational infrastructure to improve flood resilience and enhance public space. The existing sports field was strategically lowered to create stormwater detention capacity, enabling the daylighting of the Awataha Stream and the upgrade of the rugby league field. The park now features a fitness loop, spectator terraces, and an integrated flood wall—each element contributing to both amenity and hydrological performance.
